It's a story about an introvert trying to fit in the society. |
Chapter 1: Straight auburn hair tied in a ponytail, glasses on the tip of her nose, quotes of her favorite fictional characters printed on her tees, Nike's training shoes on her feet- Rachel was a completely ordinary girl, living a completely mundane life. And she enjoyed it that way. She enjoyed going to school with her cousin, Cecilia, she enjoyed not being the center of attention of teachers and students. She enjoyed having just two friends, one of which was her cousin and the other was Cecilia's friend, so she was forced to hang out with Rachel too. Rachel was her parent's only child and went to school with Cecilia, who used to live just down the street. Rachel was never the social type. She liked having only two friends at school, she liked never being in the limelight, she liked being an ordinary girl crushing over sassy, apathetic fictional characters with dirty, matted hair. (Those are always the best ones), she liked being a wallflower, and she liked being unnoticed. And her life continued the way she 'liked' till she was done with school and had to apply for college. Cecilia disagreed to go to the same college as her cousin, saying it was time Rachel did things more independently. When Rachel first figured out, she cried. She cried endlessly. Then she punched pillows, then she unfollowed Cecilia on Twitter, then she texted her "crazy bitch", after which she followed her again on Twitter and apologized for being so mean. Then she cried again. Rachel recalled all of this as she stood outside her college's building. When she pushed open the door of her class, she did not have the slightest idea that with some of these people she would have the best of memories, with some the worst of fights and some would help her discover and think of herself the way she had never before. |
