an introvert tries to find her place in the society, under the wing of two friends. |
Following the address Fiona had given to her, Rachel walked all the way to their home. Tightening her ponytail one last time, Rachel rang the bell. Her jaw dropped open when Jared opened the door. "What? I look hotter than usual?" he remarked. Rachel immediately closed her mouth, blushing. He is wearing his PJs! Who the heck wears PJs to a dinner? Or do they? Rachel thought. "No. I expected you to wear something decent." She said as she pushed pass Jared to enter the house. The house was pretty much like Rachel's. Same brown walls, same white ceilings. An LCD was placed on a table at a distance, with a sofa behind the screen. She could hear voices from the kitchen but Fiona was nowhere in sight. "What is decent? A tuxedo? Because I only where those monkey suits on weddings." Rachel was about to reply, when Fiona came in from the kitchen. Rachel's mouth fell open again. Fiona was wearing the same clothes she wore to school, except they had flour all over them and her hair were all disheveled, coming out of her ponytail. She still managed to look pretty though. "Oh hey, Rachel! You are right on time, I just put the pizza in the oven." Fiona said. "Your mouth is open again." Jared pointed out to Rachel. "And why is that?" Fiona asked. "Well, aren't you supposed to dress up and look pretty, when your friends are over?" Rachel replied. "No, not really. I think your friends deserve to see you at your best and your worst." Jared said, smiling. "Well, I wouldn't know! You guys are my first friends." Rachel said, looking down. "You are one lucky girl to have such wonderful people as your first friends." Fiona remarked. Rachel smiled shyly at that. "Okay, so what do we begin with?" Jared questioned. "The girly stuff." Cheered Fiona. "Like?" "MAKE UP!" "Let's do something I can participate in too." "Oh you are gonna participate, alright." The next hour or so was spent chasing Jared around with lipsticks and eyeliners and mascaras. The girls were successful in pinning the poor boy to a wall and smearing makeup all over his face. They then took pictures together (Jared still had makeup all over him), following which they had their dinner, which ended in a food fight. They all had to shower after that. "You guys are the best!" Rachel said, giggling as Jared imitated Gordon Ramsay. They were all sprawled together on the sofa in the TV lounge, watching MasterChef. "Tell us something we don't know." Jared said, smiling. Just then, Fiona's phone rang. "It's Timmy." Jared told his sister, handing the phone to her. Fiona's eyes lit up like Beyoncé was calling her. She took the phone and left the lounge. "Who's Timmy?" Rachel asked Jared. "Fiona's boyfriend." Rachel's mouth fell open again. "You really need to stop doing that." Jared remarked. "Fiona has a boyfriend?" Rachel questioned, still surprised. "Yeah a lot of people do, Rachel." "Do you?" "I'm not gay." "You know what I mean." "I don't know, man. We haven't called it off, like officially. But I know she's cheating on me." "That's terrible. I don't why someone would do that to you." "I don't either." Jared replied flatly. Great going, Rachel! Great going! You just pissed off one of the only two friends you have on planet Earth, she thought. "Hey, we haven't even started working on our project. When is it due?" Rachel asked, trying to get Jared to get out of his bad mood. "Man, I totally forgot about it! We have like only one week." "Woah! I don't think we'll be able to complete it." "We'll have to work after school hours too. We could go to Starbucks tomorrow." "O-outside?" "Yeah. It'll be fun. Trust me." Just then, Fiona walked into the room. "Hey, we're thinking of going to Starbucks tomorrow to complete our project." Jared told his sister. "Oh I can't come. Timmy's having a party over at his house." "We need to complete this project, Fiona." "You guys go without me. I promise I'll contribute later." "You are so not doing this." "Please, Jared. Just once, okay? It's not like I'm telling you to make the entire project on your own." Fiona then turned to Rachel, making a puppy dog face. Hers wasn't as adorable as Jared's but Rachel said "Okay. Once." Jared groaned. "It's getting late now. I better go home." "What time is it?" Jared asked no one in particular. "Almost midnight" Fiona answered. "It's too late to go alone, Rachel. I'll drop you off." Jared offered. "Don't bother, Jared. I already owe you people for giving me the best night of my life." "There's nothing to be grateful for and Jared's right, Rachel. It's too late. You could get murdered and everyone would blame us." "Oh alright." Rachel said, picking up her purse. "Wanna come along?" Jared asked Fiona, swinging the car keys in his hands. "Nah. It's time for the Late Late Show." "Who's the guest?" "Taylor Swift." "I'm leaving." Jared said, leading Rachel out and closing the door behind him. |
