What takes me so long?
Searching for the new song
One that can be the reason
To unchain myself from this musical poison

I’ve been drained by its rhythm and harmony
No matter how sweet its melody once sounded to me
Its soothing tune is a reminiscent of the painful history
Its verses reminding me that fulfilled promises were not meant to be

Still, the picture of every single scene is as vivid as every accented beat
As my heart was pounding fast contrary to what tempo was in the music sheet
I should have eliminated this sound from my playlist
For bit by bit it starts to achingly knock me down with a large strong fist

At the back of melody and rhythm are tears from weeping
Beneath the lyric are answers I keep on seeking
Underneath the harmony is a path I am crossing
Behind the song is a dying soul praying to come into being.
