Why didn’t you stay?


You said you would love me always,
Hold my hand across desert sands.
You said you would hold me forever,
And now your love is no longer in our plans.
You said you’d be the father of my children,
Carry my soul when I am too weak to walk.
You promised me you’ll be with me forever,
And now we don’t even talk.
Thought we’d be together till were old and grey,
But street life owned your heart.
Thought we’d still be together,
But sadly we had to part.
I remember the night you left me,
Who would have thought I wouldn’t feel you
next to me another day.
Just had to get one last hustle,
Why didn’t you stay?
