do you remember her?
Years ago, you wrote me a letter.....now it's my turn

To the girl who shone bright even when she was sad
To the girl who didn't let her insecurities slow her down
To the girl who would tell me when the smallest things went wrong
To the girl who relied on me as much as I relied on her
To the girl who wrote me the sappiest letter few years ago
To the girl who didn't let the world shake her faith
To the girl who couldn't say no to helping anybody

To the girl who worshipped God with me for hours
To the girl who couldn't stop teasing me about boys
To the girl who didn't let trivial things like her appearance get to her
To the girl who refused to let silly comments mess her up
To the girl who became my piggy buddy

To the girl who couldn't ever say shakunthala without giggling
To the girl who I thought I could share everything with
To the girl who would listen to all my crazy stories
To the girl who used to call me for no reason
To the girl to whom I used to mean a lot more than most people

Today, she has other friends and another life. I see her and can't help but think she is not as happy when she smiles. We still talk sometimes but we don't TALK. To others she seems fine but to me she is holding the weight of the world. There was a time she would tell me what was wrong...Now, maybe she tells somebody else and if that is the case I will be happy for her. If this is where she wants to place me in her life, I will accept that. If however she is hiding behind her smiles, if her insecurities have gotten so big she doesn't know what to do, and if the weight of the world is too heavy to hold up on her own...
I am here.
