When God loved me

When I was a child living young and free
I loved my Savior and I knew that he loved me,
But as I grew older I began to doubt.
I didn’t know quite what life was all about.
I loved my parents dearly and my sister too
We were such a close family living each day a new.
When I was first a bride, my life I did not hide,
For I was full of innocence, being protected all my life.
Then a dreadful thing happened, I lost my father, yes he died
In the following years, I became ill, but I still kept my pride
Until the day I met him, he was a monster from inside.
He took from me my will and changed my very life.
I then began to question whether God loved me still.
I struggled with the question, yet He did not leave my side.
I wondered how he could love me after I would backslide,
But He made a promise that I could call upon his name.
He came into my heart and said I love you still the same
I will always love you because you believe in me.
These are the words he spoke to me as he dwelled within my heart you see.
I will always know that he is on my side, and he has been from the start, He did not hide.
