If lying could save someone's life or your own, lie! |
Write a story that includes the words: door, street, disappear Alone, a man was having his dinner when he heard a hurried, continuous pounding at the door which was just a few steps away from the table where he was enjoying his meal. Wondering who could it be at that hour, he opened it and found men... men with guns! In front of him were three men. He knew they were not the army but the guns didn't alarm him. He had seen armed men before. Many times. Passing by at a distance in and around his farm located in the mountains south of the Mindanao Island. But he wasn't in his farm. And their presence right at his door at eight o'clock at night was something uncommon about these men. Such close encounter only meant two things: a warning or a death sentence "Freddie Morales?" the tallest of the three asked, his eyes ran a quick survey of what's in front of him. From where he was standing Fred could see three or four more men policing the light-less, empty street of his village. "No. You got the wrong house," he denied calmly. "You are lying!" pressed another, pointing his rifle at him. "No! He lives next to the rice mill!" he countered right instantly. He was hoping that the distance from his house to the rice mill was enough to give him time to do what he needed to do. The tallest man stared at him sharply as if trying to bring the truth out of him. "You are being watched!" He warned and left. As soon as Fred closed the door, he grabbed his cell phone and texted 'Disappear or face death!!!' and sent it to his father, Freddie Morales, Sr., a conservationist. (Word count: 298) |
