After experiencing a terrible thunderstorm in the Drakensberg mountains I wrote this song |
The storm in the poem/song was in the Drakensberg mountains half way up the Sani Pass, from South Africa to Lesotho. It was terrifying, quite the worst storm I had ever experienced and yet at the same time it was magnificent. At the end there was a rainbow, a huge arch of brilliant colour and as I watch a forked lightning flashed right through the centre of it. A truly amazing sight. It is a song and a lovely Irish man has recorded my words and melody and it can be listened to free at http://fandalism.com/annticipation/4Sa I want to be heard by the Lord, I want Him to listen to my every word, To receive this my heartfelt prayer, I need to know that He is there. I shout my words o’er roaring seas, Hear me oh Lord please hear me. Help me to find a way to peace My words are blown away, with which I make my pleas. I shout my words o’er howling winds, Hear me oh Lord please hear me. Help me oh Lord for I have sinned, My words are blown away, on which my hopes are pinned. I shout my words by gales they’re tossed Hear me oh Lord please hear me. I climb a hill for I am lost I remember Calvary and think of the cross. I want to be heard by the Lord, I want Him to listen to my every word, To receive this my heartfelt prayer, I need to know that He is there. In thunder’s crash my words are drowned, Hear me oh Lord please hear me. Lightning flashes all around, My words are blown away, words shouted in despair I drop to my knees in fear I freeze, In the midst of the storm I whisper a prayer The tumults cease, the air stills, there is peace, Heard by the Lord is my prayer, He heard my whispered prayer He heard my whispered prayer I have been heard by the Lord, I now know He listens to my every word, I now know that He’s always there To receive my whispered prayer |
