How I feel when there's no one to turn to.
The Mask

I hide behind a mask I wear
from all of those who’ve lied
My patience has worn out, and
I become misery’s newest bride.

I cry tears no one will ever see
sorrow’s sister is mine keep
sleeping now a thing of the past
as memories begin to creep.

I pray alone in my room
living in shades of gray
fearing I’ve strayed too far
seeking the beginning of a new day.

I hope in lonely solitude
inside barred walls, I mope
sliding down depression’s hill
no longer able to cope.

I am safe behind the mask I wear
from all of those who’ve lied
no longer able to enjoy freedom
I am now misery’s newest bride.
