I didn't think I liked poetry, until I tried writing it.. |
I Don't Do Poetry I don’t do poetry. That doesn't get me going. I prefer Thrillers, All to-ing and fro-ing. The fighting and chases with lots of twists, Subtexts and subplots that hint at the gist. And the climactic ending, surely you know it’s Much more exciting than being a poet? I don’t do poetry, I’m not into rhyming, I get stuck with the words And often, the timing. Sometimes I feel like I’m writing aimlessly Setting my prose in a way that shamelessly Joins one rambling sentence to another, Hoping that no one will ever bother To point out my weakness, I know I often show it, I’m truly, really, deeply, not an actual poet. I don’t do poetry. I can’t stand the stuff. It’s just for people who talk a load of fluff, Who huff and puff and hope no one calls their bluff. Who think they are clever, and are remembered forever, Cause they strung the perfect sentence together. And it plucked the strings of a lovers heart Or even caused a war to start… Or caused tears to flow through sorrow or laughter, I think that is what the poet was after... Oh my..., I think, I have a notion, What it means to be a poet; It's the Art of emotion. In the twist of prose, and though I didn’t know it, I’ve suddenly realized, I love being a poet. Galyx |
