Once I was able to soar, Once I could fly, by regretful choice that is no longer the case.

Sore
Bloody
Much more
These wounds
Grievous
This injury
Continuous
From any height
Will I now fall
Every impact
Horrendous
I won’t survive
I was not meant to
Cleft wings
Upon the ground
Looking up
As my world
Tumbles
All around
Those I love
Soaring free
Those I hate
Escaping me
All of them
All of it ascending
As I myself
Am quickly descending
Down so low
Down far below
Soon
I’ll start sinking
Into a blackness
Of no escaping
Soon I will be beyond
Any eight-foot hole
Soon I will slip
Into forever’s bosom
There I will be kept
Cleft wings
I won’t ever fly again
Willingly
I did this
Self righteously
Inflicted
Sore
Bloody
Much more
These wounds
Grievous
This injury
Continuous
From any height
I will now fall
To a greater depth
Further
I will always go
Deeper
I will always be
Those I love
Soaring free
Those I hate
Escaping me
All of them
All of it ascending
As I myself
Am quickly descending
Madness
So much sadness
A blissful idea
That if I ended it
That if I cut my wings
I would stop feeling
A pain that to me
At most times
Was unbearable
But such a pain
Is nothing to what
I have come to feel now
I made a mistake
A tragedy unmaking
To the bone
I sliced my flesh
Cut my tendons
Removing my wings
And therefore
Offering me no escape
From what I was certain
Would be
A much deserving fate…
