Lazy Weekend

Weekend

I get up at four, four days a week for work
My body is used to that
Usually before my alarm
I roll out of bed, drag myself to the shower
And attempt to make myself fresher
Than my meager five hours of sleep allows

If it weren't for the fact I need the money

So Friday to Sunday, my days are mine
Though my husband has our weekends booked
He's retired, so he has that luxury.
Me? I try to sleep in, but I wake up early
Usually only an hour or two than my work week.
I quietly leave our bed, make coffee, and have "me" time
My body feels odd and thrums with a static energy
That whispers loudly in my frontal lobe 'you should still be asleep'

If it weren't for the fact I need the money

In half an hour, my thrumming has diminished, thanks to the coffee
I fold that laundry I needed to fold
I take a long shower, wash my hair, paint my nails
I'll be stunning, he'll be captivated
I hear him snoring in the bedroom
It isn't yet seven.
