Bindiya finds out that a good head on the right shoulders is priceless.
Bindiya, or Bindi as she is know by her friends and family, was just another typical Indian girl with a not so typical story. Married off the minute she graduated from college and then moved half across the world to the United States, Bindi eventually took a job as a software engineer. Although not very tall, a mere 5’3, Bindi has a very attractive figure and an even more stunning face. Big brown beautiful eyes and beautifully shaped lips capped off a perfectly symmetrical face. Her hair was long and black, silky to the touch and ever so soft. But like most Indian girls married off so young, her beauty and charm faded the minute she started having children – three to be exact. They came in a flurry, one right after the other. Her slender body gave way to a pudgy, disproportioned and now unattractive one and she hadn’t even reached her 28th birthday yet! The only thing that remained was her extraordinarily beautiful, still remarkably proportional face. Unfortunately, this was not enough to hold her husband Ragish’s interests. Sadly, Bindi gradually slipped out of his mind and life. She noticing Ragish’s wandering eyes first. Then he started to spend more and more time at work, coming home late, sometimes even drunk. The he started going away on long business trips. But the one thing Bindi really noticed was Ragish now enjoyed the company of his white American female co-workers. He blatantly flirted with them in front of her at company functions, when she started complaining he stopped taking her altogether. Now mind you, Bindi was a very well educated woman, a superb engineer. She had won numerous awards at work and garnered the respect of her co-workers. But, as it would be, this did little to boost her confidence. Slowly Bindi became more and more miserable with her situation, contributing to further weight gain and unhappiness.

The only ray of light in Bindi’s life was her co-worker Sebastian from Argentina. A quiet man, Sebastian worked alongside of Bindi on many a project, ate with her every day, and even showed her particular fondness and consideration during her latter two pregnancies. The truth was, Sebastian never saw the once vibrant, fit, and gorgeous Bindi – the truth was, he probably wouldn’t have even cared. This was the why Bindi liked him, he just wasn't superficial. Even more so, he was kind, sincere, and selfless. The icing on the cake? Sebastian was tall, handsome, and very well built. Bindi looked forward to seeing him everymorning, it was the only thing that kept her going. His wit and common decency made her feel hopeful. They achieved a lot together, too much actually. The company finally rewarded Sebastian by offering him a manager's position at their newest branch in Barcelona - Bindi was crushed. To make matters worse, rumors started circulating about Ragish and one of his subordinates, an attractive career-minded blonde named Kristen.

Now Bindi hated Kristen whom she considered obnoxious and cheap. Bindi knew Kristen’s type, she had interacted with many women like her. Kristen was the type of woman who do anything to climb the corporate ladder – including sleep with Ragish, her superior and stepping stone. Bindi tried to warn Ragish, but he simply berated her, calling her a stupid and jealous pig. He told her she was useless and that he wished he had never agreed to marry her in the first place. He went on to say that the dowry he received was not enough to compensate him for the disgust he now felt seeing her fat ugly body. This extreme coldness and cruelty made it difficult for Bindi to ignore her mounting suspicions. Finally Bindi decided to send her kids back to India while she tried to save her marriage. In an act of desperation she sought out a psychologist's help and begged Ragish to join her in a few sessions. Ragish scoffed and simply told her that their marriage was now an open one - that he would simply do as he pleased and with whomever. For the first time Bindi felt suicidal, she was completely devastated. She stopped going to her sessions, prompting her psychologist to stop by and visit her. The moment Bindi opened the door and saw her psychologist, she broke down and told her everything. Saddened by it all, her psychologist reached into her purse and pulled out a business card and handed it to Bindi. Little did Bindi know that would change her life forever.

“Bindi, I have a close friend who owns this company. They are doing phenomenal things, changing people’s lives for the better. What they do is actually very revolutionary. It’s going to change the world, make it a happier place…. one person at a time. But what they really need right now are clients, people who are willing to take the plunge.” “How much will it cost?” Bindi asks sniffling. “Since the treatment is still in the experimental phase, it won’t cost you a dime. Are you interested?” Bindi looks at a business card. “Happy Heads Inc.?” she reads out loud. The lettering is in a bright metallic red. The face of the card is speckled with yellow smiling happy faces. “Hmm. That’s interesting” Bindi says as she turns the card over. In the same lettering she reads the company’s motto: “A happy head makes for a happy world.” “So they can fix my marriage?” “They will help you fix your life Bindi. Whether that means your marriage is also fixed, I am not certain” her psychologist replies. “I guess I have nothing to lose. Will you go with me, please?” Bindi asks. “Of course I will! Don’t you worry Bindi!” she responds laughing. “That’s great. When can I start?” Bindi asks. “How about tomorrow? I’ll give my friend a call today and make the arrangements. You are probably going to have to take a leave of absence. I’ll fax a letter to your HR manager, cc your boss” her counselor responds. “That would be great. Thank you!” Bindi responds nervously. They stand up and Bindi leads her to the door. Her psychologist grabs Bindi’s shaking hands then hugs Bindi tightly. “Bindi, you don’t have anything to fear. I promise, this will be the best decision of your life!”
