I reached the point of no return
with my cousin; I gave her one last chance, but to no avail.
Her hatred, her racial slurs,
her self-righteous judging
and her arrogance were
just too much to take.
Her attitude was indomitable;
nothing I did could faze it.
I tried reason, education,
patience, understanding,
and love. It mattered
not; she continued
to spew hate while
waving her Bible
high.
One night I asked her nicely
to keep that racial garbage
to herself. She not only
refused, but had the
gall to compare my
reason with her
hate speech.
Then, like propane
igniting in the dark of
night, I let her have it,
for tolerance has limits.
It is both sad and laughable;
this sanctimonious demeanor,
while at the same time having
a black heart. It’s like she
believes she has a Jesus
credit card—maybe she
swipes it regularly on
the nightstand.
What are the rewards
of such behaviors
in her hoped-for
afterlife?… free
chicken?
