I just found this poem I wrote over 5 years ago. Talk about unwanted nostalgia.
I remember falling to pieces, as you said goodbye,
everyone always said that you were a waste of time,
but to me you were a breath of fresh, unpolluted air
and they will never understand, for they were never there

You lifted me in ways, I never thought before,
put a smile on my face, opened so many doors,
came to me like an angel, timely in time of need,
showed me the greatest meaning, planted every seed.

Whatever happened to all of those good times,
everyone walked away and ended up just fine,
I am the only one who carries this unbearable pain,
of what once was you see, but will never be again.

For just like the words of my father himself,
if i could capture time in a bottle, id need nothing else,
time is what sustained me and what had made me whole,
It is what was taken from me when all of you let go.

And now Ive been forgotten, erased from this book,
one man, one state, one thing is all that it took,
so now I sit here weary, with sadness and despair,
but you will never know it, because you are not here.
