Your Love Is Greater

Stronger than the bond of a mother and child,
Your grip on my heart tightens with each day.
Relentless in pursuit of my wretched soul
You prove that Your love is greater.

You gave up everything with the knowledge
I may choose to turn against and hate You.
You refused to give up on me in the hope
one day I’d realize Your love is greater.

The day came when I found myself in despair,
ashamed of the entirety of my chosen life,
I cried out for You to show me that You were real,
a sign that even in my ugliest moments, You loved me.

I heard you whisper softly in my ear,
“My child, I’ve been here all along.”
and just like that You showed me
just how much Your love is greater.

A sinner now forgiven for the ugly truth of my life,
I live each day loving the Father who was there,
regardless of the darkest moments of my life,
Your love has proven to be greater.
