If I really did what society wants me to do: living as a person with a disability.
I'll melt into a puddle
Speak only when I'm spoken to
Those thoughts I've been chewing
Will be shoved down where the light doesn't reach
My stomach can churn
Over thoughts unspoken,
Dreams unlived.

I'll let you cut in line
And use the bathrooms clearly marked
With white wheelchairs
Park your car in the spot reserved for me
Because I have no place.

Your right
You're better than me
Better than I could ever be.

Take that spot for your oversized SUV
You obviously need it for your baggage-
Unmeaning smiles, loose-lipped slurs,
Something meant, but not remembered.

So, I'll melt into a puddle
Don't feel bad for me!

I see my dreams from my eyes
Blue-green, with black pupils
Not unlike your own
I see it all in front of me
I stretch my hand out, searching
As for a lighthouse beacon in the rain.
