A winding river twists and turns,
carving its way through the mountains.
It pays no mind to the wandering deer
or the scampering squirrel hunting nuts.
In a small clearing the flowers bloom,
bursting into colors bright and beautiful.
Flaming reds and vibrant yellows scatter,
Mixed with softened blues and deep purples.
Sitting on a checkered blanket, I wait;
I dream of you, with your ebony hair.
Jade eyes dance with joy when you come,
joining me in the peace of nature’s glory.
We listen to the babbling creek,
taking in all of nature’s beauty.
It’s then I realize what you meant
When you told me a long time ago,
“There’s a place for us.”
