Balancing Act

Optimistic, full of good cheer,
we sit at the zenith of the year.
A time when the harvest is due
and rewards for hard work accrue.

Do I believe in astrology?
I read the words - they sound like me.

Words and music, dance and art
that speak directly to the heart.
Beauty in form, deeper than skin,
will always make the Libra grin.

Those words ring true and I'm okay -
except perhaps with a ballet.

Ruled by Venus, we love romance
and with our charm, you'll take a chance.
Happy, cheerful, you will soon see
that Libra's embody joie de vivre.¹

I will admit, I love to flirt.
You must love life, not be inert.

Partnership is our ruling house
whether business, friendship, or a spouse;
We've strong feelings on right and wrong
but we'll compromise to get along.

I've given up watching T.V.
now that "law" and "justice" don't agree.

We're sensitive to other's needs
even though that often leads
to going too far emotionally.
Such is the burden of empathy.

Now this is getting really scary;
perhaps I should learn to be wary.

The only sign that's not alive,
it's life itself that makes us thrive.
Not scales but balance is our sign.
We look for it in life's design.

Maybe there's something to these signs.
I'm glad that Libra's scales are mine!
