Gift of Gab
By Ronilo D. Perez
While drinking fine wine in a high-profile pub
My thoughts started drifting away meandering into a communications hub
I peeped into the window and saw some folks dressed in drab
They were nursing their wounded heads from fallen slabs
Suddenly police surrounded them and they were all nabbed
I inquired what happened to bystanders mesmerized by my gab
Could not speak out because they were all gagged
I prayed that they will be touched by God's love
As I saw hovering from above a white lovely dove
I felt that truth and compassion will melt away the mob
My prayers were answered there were no spilled blood
No more stubborn thugs to be drowned in deadly floods
No more white-washing of crimes to be hidden in shameful mud
Peace has finally silenced that deafening thud
No more irritating duds but blossoming fresh rich buds
Graces abound because my God is a merciful Dad
