WEATHERING THE STORM

Battered by violent and devastating winds
Soul-mates, inmates, primates blown off in a whirlwind
Flattening homes, towns and cities
Washing out revelries and impurities
Leaving trails of destruction unprecedented
Praying that these scenes of devastation be ended

Billowing waves, howling and whistling winds on villages enchanted
Removing bad plots and dirty schemes intended
Causing unparalleled grief and strife untold
Shattering dreams and plans of old
Exposing sufferings, fears, misery beyond comprehension
Putting an end to the dying wish of life extension

Unanswered questions and doubts unravelled
Leading us to unchartered domains un-travelled
Compounding poverty-stricken communities' affliction
Tempest' wrath leaves our leaders and planners with no direction
Unsung heroes rose to stamp out rising fears of tales of deception
Patriotism and heroism of military and citizenry manifesting good intention

Despite overwhelming odds and insurmountable burden
Nations galvanized to stop the bleeding of the downtrodden
Glimmers of hope and signs of optimism abound
To give hope and purpose so that communities can rebound
Authorities bring up road map so that life can be found
As we walk in faith and love, affliction and strife be forever bound

Filipino resolve, resiliency , valor stand tall
Amidst the severe crises people refuse to fall
Blessings from above bringing forth compassion, stirring up unbridled mettle
Re-directing resources to set free humankind from the clutches of puzzling myths and riddles
Braving the tempest , people from all walks of life, riding stormy seas so dreams be re-enkindled
No fiddle nor twiddle only straightforward sharing and giving as we light the vigil candle,
This archipelago will become the "paradise" of the Orient at full throttle.
