A girl with Asperger's discovers a universe where humans have super powers.
Chapter 1: An Odd Puddle and An Odd Friendship

I never really played on the playground (except for swinging and, if someone offered, role playing), but then Lucy showed me this odd puddle.

"Hey, Judy! Wanna skip stones?", said Lucy.

I had forgotten that I occasionally did that aswell.

"Sure", I said. Lucy and I became best friends on the condition that she'd leave alone. We had different interpretations of it though. Her cheerfulness annoyed me, but I realized she wasn't that bad.

"Cool! Maybe the puddle will be deep enough to go swimming.", said Lucy.

"What?", I said.

"Oh, you'll see. Come on!", she said. Lucy grabbed my hand, and I followed.

Zzz

When we got to the puddle, Lucy didn't hesitate to dive in (literally). She made a dive like people at swimming pools do. To my surprise she didn't break her neck. All I could see was her feet, then her toes, then nothing, then she resurfaced head first.

"Now you try!", she said in her usually cheerful voice while getting out.

"But I'll drown", I said. I didn't know how to swim.

"Oh, don't worry about that. This isn't ordernairy water. You'll want to see what is underneath it.", she said.

Other than the likelihood that I've gone mad, it made sense because it wasn't an ordernairy puddle. So, I made a regular jump in. I didn't drown, but the puddle was as deep as the shallow end of a swimming pool, not deep enough to dive in. I decided to hold my breath underwater, and I noticed that I was floating. I tried to swim deeper, but something was holding me back. I climbed out of the puddle.

"Oh! It must have to do with your special power. You discovered it early, awesome! I think have something for that." She handed me a brown rock. Then she said, "Hold on to this. I'll hold your hand, and I'll guide you through."

We both jumped in the puddle, and a new world was discovered.
