Maybe it is the fact
that I am a citizen of the planet
that causes me to see each nation
as a state in the country of Earth.

Moldova,
officially the Republic of Moldova1,
is a nation
that is "governed by elected representatives of the people and a president"2.

Moldova
receives its name from the Moldova River,
and the river--
according to legend--
was named by Prince Dragos
after his dog Molda:
Prince Dragos found
his hound drowned
in the river
at the end of an aurochs3 hunt.4

Moldova,
an ancient land,
whose history goes back
to the stone-age5,
and continues through the Middle Ages6
into modern times7.

Moldova,
a nation in the country of Earth,
whose people,
government,
and religions reflect
a segment of humanity.
