Though I can't quite put it in rhyme! |
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Because I'm stuck for what else to say! Writing poetry is really hard All I can do is quote the bard. It's much easier to write in prose But not as romantic, I suppose. So I'll just try my hand at this And hope that I impress you, miss! I can quote Shakespeare (The one who wrote 'King Lear') I can quote JK Rowling Who has quite a fan following Because, as an emotional ranger I meet the needs of Hermione Granger. I have more emotions than a teaspoon Shall I demonstrate? Shall I swoon? Would you rather I quote a band? The Beatles - "Wanna hold your hand"? Or maybe someone like Lady Gaga Or Beyonce, to complete my saga. I've written lines a-plenty With this one, it's two and twenty But I haven't even begun To describe you as the sun. I better start, or you'll groan Or worse still -- get bored and yawn Then you'll put this poem away Before I've said what I had to say. So yeah - you are my sun And my moon, all said and done And my stars and planets and asteroids (Which is a word a poet usually avoids.) You are the flowers in my trees You are my birds, you are my bees You are the tomato between the bread So nice and juicy and so bright red. I guess you know what I'm trying to say In my own rather clumsy way I love you, I love you at work and play So -- shall I compare thee to a summer's day? |
