I’m viewing the Colorado from the doorway as have Anasazi. The silence is broken by moaning and scraping sounds and falling rocks. Tales of ancient ones standing watch spring to mind. Twilight creeps in as does a sudden chill. I sense I’m sharing this cliff dwelling. Spooked, I swing my light to and fro. No one is here. Grabbing my stuff in haste, and pick my way down the sheer north wall. Total darkness now engulfs me, but my relief is overwhelming as I prepare for a night at the river’s edge.
