A Metamorphosis entry - Using the fable The Tortoise and the Hare.
WC:133

Men from two houses, close friends, togeth'r sat.
Benvolio, just from the bath, felt ire!
As Peter did insult his legs, he spat;
And made a dare, to win a race, set fair!

The sister started the contest, why not?
She set the course, and did agree to be,
Prize in the wager, for Peter was taut!
Course set, one trots off, Peter lets him flee.

He stayed behind for his true love, requited.
Peter’s stab met with joy, they would soon wed.
But what time spent? He ran expedited.
In the end he saw him, not just ahead.

Peter put their race news on the town board.
He shouted; but we’ll wed, upon my sword!
