When in the night I find my rest disturbed,
I rise to walk around the house alone.
My steps are soft so that no creak is heard,
Yet still exudes a clear and frightful groan.
I pour myself a cup of herbal tea,
I hope for weight to overtake my eyes.
But still, I fear no sleep shall come to me.
I sit outside and look up to the skies.
The chilly night is calm, yet with no breeze.
A million stars shine bright in heav’n above.
One shoots across the sky, I feel unease.
I think of things I’ve lost, like my true love.
I sigh and wish upon the shooting star.
Still hope, my wish, it all is still afar.
