The title was used from a prompt that I was going to enter for a contest; a 40 line poem. |
It could have been perfect, I thought; as my eyes gazed at the gift I bought. It should've been no surprise why I must've thought, I wanted to surprise you; it's what I sought out to do each time I was thinking of you. I was dazzled by your presence; it was the cologne, the essence I felt; every time I prayed, I should've knelt. As I looked up to the stars, the light shone bright; it was pure delight. Certain things have moved in the night; it was a bumpy ride, I wanted to hide. I was frightened but ended up very enlightened. With your hand in mine, I knew I'd be fine. Your hugs and kisses drove me wild, but I just stood there meek and mild. As my memories were filed away in my brain, it took a lot to learn. When I look up to the moon, I know that I will see you soon. It could have been perfect, but people have let us down; it's so sad I want to frown. You made me smile, they made me cry. Why they do this I do not know, I guess they don't believe in us; get over it and don't put up a fuss. Written By Anna Marie Carlson Tuesday, December 3, 2019 |
