This means something completely different now from when I first wrote it.
I wrote another song about this girl
Who thought she was better off numb to the world
Fed up with those imposters,
Thought she was better off alone,

So she lived in lonely dignity
All on her own

Along the way she got wounds she couldn't mend
And she didn't know when or if the pain would end
No confidence for her own defense,
Not for several years.

How she wish she had the will to stop the tears
How she wanted it to end

I know it feels like there's no meaning
To the agony we face
And the shadows of the past
Can never be erased.

I know it's hard, but you've got this far
Keep reaching for the stars.
You're more than what you say you are
Much more than the scars.

So now you feel the pain's too much to bear
And you feel it's easier just not to care.
The days all feel redundant
And you wish you could be spared.

You feel like there's no point in searching
For what isn't there.

You're so tired of surviving in an endless world of fraud.
It's exhausting to keep up this positive facade
And you want no place in this mascarade
That's hosted by their hate.

You're suffocating, desperate to
Find your escape.

I'm no savior, I'm no martyr
Not an angel from above.
Just a person here
That wants to make it known you're loved.

I know it's rough and you've had enough
Of what you're going through
What I say can't make it go away,
But I'll be there to help you through

I'm always here for you
I'll always be there for you
You're to strong to need a rescue
I know this much is true

But this is the least I can do
Always be here for you
