Grace sits crocheting in an oak;
it is her dream with forest folk
surrounding her on every side, magical creatures full of pride
who help her with big skeins of yarn;
and it’s alright—they give a darn.
But now she wakes from her repose
to find yarn tangled in her toes.
The forest folk in dream so clear
were made, in wake, to disappear.
Our heroine, now free from tree,
removes green yarn with urgency.
Then Grace looks out the window stat
and there she sees a sleek black cat
upon the branch of tree out back.
Right then she feels a fright attack
as creatures from the world of woo
appear to Grace out of the blue.
The black cat runs into the barn
as Grace is left to tell this yarn.
