Age, you’re just a number
But sometimes, you’ve made me ponder,
Did you make me wiser?
Age, you’re just a number
But sometimes, you’ve made me wonder
Did I grow up to be happy? Or did I sink in tears?
Did I become brave? Or surrounded by fears?
Born premature, I wasn’t supposed to live
As a baby, I could neither eat nor sleep.
They say: “why aren’t you a mom yet ? Or someone’s wife? ”
To me, these are just chapters, not the meaning of life.
They say: “hey you’re short, stout, you’re a cripple too!”
I go: “didn’t give the right to belittle me! You!”
If you don’t want the real me, please don’t pretend
You’re forever in my heart, once I call you friend.
I know I’m not flawless as no one truly is,
Being a good human being is the point I don’t want to miss.
Age, there are plenty of things you’ve made me ponder,
I’ve had my ups and downs, which sometimes made me wither.
Yet, am thankful to Allah, that I’ve made it this far.
