This is a Cornish Sonnet
Your Strong Embrace

You held me tightly in a strong embrace
before the seasons changed from warm to cold,
and hid the thoughts of leaving from your face
so I’d not see the hand of lies you dealt.
For while the love you had for me grew old,
you feigned affections you no longer felt.

You kissed me tenderly upon the lips
before the hour of darkness turned to day.
you danced me to the tune of lusting hips
and lured me with the magic of your charms.
But lo, you simply stole my heart away,
and then you left me pining for your arms.

You feigned affections you no longer felt
and then you left me pining for your arms.

The Cornish Sonnet consists of two, three couplets stanzas and a refrain made up of the first or last line of each stanza. The classical preference is for lines of iambic pentameter though isosyllabic lines of 8 to 12 syllables is acceptable. I used the last lines for my refrain, thus the rhyme scheme is abacbC dedfeF CF (where CF are the repeated lines).
