This a short blog about my excursion to a hill station, Mussoorie with my schoolmates. |
"Go Where You Feel Most Alive'' Mussoorie in October, what a great combination! October is the best time to visit Mussoorie: The Sun is delicious, the hills are covered with wild dahlias, most of the tourists have gone and the roads are almost quiet and deserted and at night one can sit in front of log fire and drink coffee. Mussoorie is a beautiful hill station located in District Dehradun of Uttarakhand state in India. Indeed, there are many amazing places to visit such as waterfalls, hills and mall road. But have you ever been into an Adventure Camp especially organized for teenagers in between two hills of Mussoorie with your pals? Well, I have and here's my experience. First of all, let me tell you that I got this opportunity from my school. I and my three really close friends went together on this excursion. We all stayed in a camp on a hill which was about 2 km from Mussoorie. We got a bamboo-made cottage to stay in, while some of the students even got tents to stay! It was a single-roomed cottage, not very big and much smaller from the rooms in our houses, but unbelievably, all of us adjusted. Along with us, there were two more students, staying in the cottage, from another section. We all went for trekking on the second day of our visit. At first, it was a smooth path but it got narrower and slippery with every moving step. Soon, it became difficult for us to trek more but nevertheless, we completed our trek and reached the peak of the mountain, named Mt. Georgia. We captured a beautiful view from the top. Trekking is itself a huge course of adventure, still we did rock climbing and rappelling there at the peak of the mountain. During our return, we experienced a heavy rainfall which made the path even more slippery and difficult for us to cross. While going down, we had several falls and even one of our team members had a bad injury. But, we helped each other and safely returned to our camp where we had a sound sleep. Besides these adventures, there were many exciting camp games too. We not only enjoyed and had fun in the trip but also this expedition was a great experience for all of us. We learnt many values such as team work, need of adjustment in the modern world and the value of a strong friendship. In addition to this, we also made many new friends for life. We also created many memories which will stay with us lifelong! |
