On ruining people

I will peel the rind from you
like an orange.
Clawing at the stubborn bits,
getting pieces of you
stuck all under my nails.
Sucking them out with my teeth
and cringing at the bitterness.
Desperate to get to the inside
now,
that you're already staining my fingers,
until I devour everything you have to offer
and there's nothing left except a few tasteless remnants
I find under my nails for far too long.
