"Have you heard the news, Jenni?" "What news, Tom?" " Stacy Adams left her husband and kids, packed her clothes and walked out. What's this world coming to?" , "Well, compared to the world news, it's nothing." " I can't believe you said that, don't you care? Her children need her, they're fourteen and twelve. She has a boyfriend, already moved in with him. What do you think her kids are thinking? She chose a boyfriend and sex instead of her children. "Tom, calm down there's more important things going on than Stacy's marriage. The children will adjust, in time they'll come around." "Jenni, stop it!" How can you talk like that, sounds like any day you could leave me and the kids. What's even worse is your belief that it's ok to leave your family for some passionate affair. Oh, and let's not forget that the kids will adjust." "That's enough, Tom, I'm not Stacy!" "You're so big on the world news, did you ever stop and think about the connection of the problems in the world and Stacy Adams?" "What do you mean?" "Why did Stacy's marriage end? Jenni, I'm not saying it's all Stacy's fault but she could only see one option, to leave her family. What families and the world needs is the desire to work things out. Look at the news, it's about power and authority, who's right and who's wrong, sounds like a troubled marriage. "I don't know how you can compare the problems in the world to someone who leaves her marriage." That evening, Jenni settled on the couch and turned on the news. Instead of watching the television, Tom stared at his wife. As the problems of the world flashed on the screen, Tom wondered if he really knew the woman he married. 300 Words |
