The mind must be able to evaluate. To estimate values and determine something's importance or necessity is to be human. Determining values is to yearn and desire. It is to want something for what you have to offer. It is to have expectations and it is to become. It's that fundamental and in such a basic skill set in terms of human ability. A physical or mental ability - as everything within reality compliments itself to have meaning in the first place. Value is an unending relationship that never quite begins. Is value something empirical? In a never-ending economy that is ever-changing? That's a question that calls for consistency rather than a blatant genesis or any kind of canonical evidence. We can only detect instances of consistency in a vast and limitless space of opportunity. Yet, this is up to the observer to attach the moments that can hold any meaning to one's own sense of meaning. That is - whatever detects the value of meaning in the first place.

To want something is to feel that something follows accordingly after something else. To want to live is to believe that one ought to. What one ought to do is yet again to be determined. Complex instances of meaning begin to unwind in time, and these instances are only detected by human reason. This keen sense tells us what things mean to us in the greater scheme or a broader spectrum. As all instances occur and disappear into time and space - moments stick to us somehow. There is always an accumulation that is seen as something mysterious. Possibly The Self, or The Soul. Maybe always prefaced as such to maximize the importance of the design as a whole. It is what we have willingly attached to and yet still remain completely oblivious to. It is something of our own design and yet something that calls to know itself.
