Deliberation

My toes curl over the edge.
One step is all it would take
To leave the safety of this ledge,
To fly. Free at last from all the heartache.

I stare at the clouds and the sky above
Consider what it is I need to prove
Look down at the raging sea
And know I can’t do that to my love.
