Skrie and friends must return a sacred object |
Return To Danger "I don' like this place," whispered Malusk as Skrie led them into the remnants of the temple as the sun breached the horizon. "Neither do I, my friend," said the halfling as she crawled over another fallen stone. "But the vision said if we bring the box here the cult priest can't find it." "And how do you know what the vision said was true?" asked Theren. "Because," said the halfling, "I felt the presence of Tymora behind the words, and I will never doubt her." Pulling the box from his pack, Malusk placed it on the altar. Skrie prayed to her goddess for guidance. A mist-like figure of a tall female elf dressed in armor appeared. "Hold!" it said, "you must return the key that was taken. This far from my place of rest I am weak and have little time. The guardians will awake and ravage this land if the key is not returned. The evil ones know where it is. They are coming for it." Despite the group's questions, the ghost gave little more information. Just as the vision faded, an image of the ruins at Nemeadamore lingered in the air. "Well, that just tears it," says Skrie. "Not only do we have more undead looking for us, but we have to go back into the middle of the cultists." Gathering their gear and heading south, they hiked along the border of the forest and grasslands. Once in the hills west of the village, they turned east, finding a small river gorge and cave to rest for the day. That night, they planned to enter the unknown depths of the ruined temple. |
