I sit at the edge of the lake, feet dangling in the water. This is my secret spot, I don’t think anyone knows it. I accidentally found it while I was exploring a cave. This is a strange place. You see, the lake is hidden by the stone walls of the cave yet there is no roof. I look up at forest above me. Little raindrops fall down leaving soft wrinkles on the surface of the lake. The sunlight warms my face as I enjoy my beautiful tressure. If I could I would stay here forever, but how beautiful this place is during the day so terrifying it is at night. Sometimes it looks like there is a whole other world down there. One time I swear I saw yellow eyes stare at me. I always try to stay, but as soon as the twilight sets in my fear conquers my curiosity. I can see the sky above me get a little darker. A breeze on my neck makes me realize the sun is gone yet my feet are still in the water. I stumble out of the lake grabbing a towel to dry my legs. When I’m done I notice the sun has already set. I gather all my courage and crawl to the edge of the water. When I look into the depts a face comes closer and before I can move I am eye to eye with a divine feminine creature. “I hoped you would stay, my dear Jane.” She grabs my wrists and pulls me down. The water gets darker and darker and I don’t know what’s up or down. As we get closer, a faint blue light turns into a beautiful city. I can’t believe my eyes when I see its name, Atlantis. |
