Two young loves get more than just their date night.
Parked

Upon a midnight clear
Full moon shining bright
Two loves held each other close
Hearts pounding with fright

Bodies were entwined
Minds occupied by things
A scratching noise there was
The kind nails on paint will bring

“What was that?” she said
“I don’t know,” he replied
“Are you scared?” she asked
He stayed silent, rather than lie

He grabbed for his phone
A couple taps, there was light
He swept the area outside
There was nothing in his sight

“I’d best be getting you home.”
She hurried to agree
The engine roared to life
Headlights illuminated the tree

It stood ghastly and tall
Branches twisted and bare
But for one prone body
Swinging in the air

Breath was drawn to scream
But no noise was emitted
Limbs frozen, hearts lurched
A gruesome crime committed

GO NOW, drive!
Their senses all on fire
Throw the car in reverse
BAM! BANG! Blown tire

Who cares? Just get going!
Forward, hit the gas
Drive it on the rim
This breath could be your last

A figure by the road
Body draped in black
Red eyes blazing hate
Face haggard and slack

It pulls back an axe
Takes aim at the car
Swings as they rush by
The town isn’t far

The rearend fishtails
Down the road they go
Too scared to look back
Death awaits, they know

So, it was they arrived
Both crying and shaking
To spit out their story
It’s true! We’re not faking!

Eyes roll in disbelief
Knowing glances abound
Their state of undress
Little doubt to be found

They’re making it all up!
Teens scared in the dark
There’s no real murderer
It’s all a great big lark

Until they see their car
Rim ruined beyond repair
Driver’s side marred
A huge axe buried there
