So, I saved my very favorite, above all others, Christmas song for the last day entry.
I've always loved this song, but George Strait's version is the one that comes to mind. I grew up in the country and the words of this song were true for me. No matter the time of year, if I was feeling down, I could look towards one of the tall evergreens and be reminded of the promise of warmth, love and happiness that is there when Christmas arrives. It would remind me of how we wish that feeling would last all year and, inevitably, I would pull myself out of feeling down and try again. Our front yard has a huge old evergreen tree that dominates the view from our living room. Some might call it luck that we found this place with that tree, but I think it was meant to be.
