Lance's first babysitter didn't want to do the job twice.
Lance Decker Rock-A Second Babysitter

By Shadowgate

.........................................................................

18-year-old senior high school student Mark Ludwig just got back his math test and he made a 100 on it. So far, his Friday was going great. He only had one more hour to go before school let out. For the time being he had to sit through his elective music class and listen to the teacher read Mozart's biography out loud.

As soon as the final bell rang, he fled the school building and walked home.

It took him 15 minutes to get home and as soon as he got home, he plopped on the living room couch.

After a 45-minute nap he heard his phone ring.

He saw it was Karen Colbert and he dreaded answering it but did so none the less.

When he answered it, Karen explained that she was being asked to babysit a seven-year-old. She said she didn't want to and begged him to do it.

Mark said, "wait hold on I've never done a babysitting job before."

She begged him "do it now please."

When Lance's parents Tina and Kevin heard about this there were mixed reactions. Tina was okay with it because she trusted Karen but Kevin's first responded "a male babysitter! What if he's a queer child molester?"

Tina yelled "Kevin don't be such a homophobe."

After yelling at her husband Tina started nagging him about how they'd miss an important dinner party if they didn't have a babysitter.

After chewing out her husband she walked over to the staircase and yelled "Lance please come down here."

Lance got up from his bed and came down the stairs.

"What's going on mother?"

Tina answered, "Lance as you may recall your father and I are going out so you will have a babysitter."

Lance asked, "okay when does Karen get here?"

Tina quickly exhaled and explained "Karen Colbert cannot make it tonight so you will be having a different babysitter. His name is Mark Ludwig."

Lance looked puzzled and then his mother told him "We're not living in the 1950's doesn't be surprised by a male babysitter."

Lance asked, "is he a transgender?"

Tina yelled "Lance Decker Rock" then groaned loudly causing Lance to cover his ears.

After that she told her son to come along in the kitchen and they would explain further.

45 minutes later they heard the doorbell ring.

Tina came running downstairs shouting "that's him."

When Mark came in, he got to meet the Rock's for the first time.

Tina started rambling "there's a storm coming but oh Mark I know you're a big boy and you can handle it. I don't think Lance gets that scared of thunderstorms."

Kevin cut her off saying "honey we've got to get going."

"Bye have a nice trip" Lance yelled before shutting the front door and locking it.

Mark sat on the living room couch and observed Lance walking toward him.

"Okay if you're going to be my babysitter you have to give me a piggyback ride" Lance said with a smile.

Mark replied, "oh I don't know about that."

"Why not" the younger child immediately asked and then Mark let him get on top of his shoulders before standing up.

Right after that loud thunder struck and the power went out.

Mark yelled "oh my God" along with Lance giving a shout.

"I'll bet you never had a kid on your shoulders during a power outage before" Lance said with excitement to which Mark replied, "no I haven't."

A minute later the lights came back on and Lance fell off Mark's shoulders only to land on the couch.
Mark said "I could use a drink" so they both went into the kitchen. While walking into the kitchen Lance sang in a high-pitched voice "Blanche, rainy days, rainy days."

Mark stopped Lance and said, "whoa what's that song you just sang?"

Lance replied "it's a song called Blanche by Elf. Ronnie James Dio was the head of that band years ago."

Mark said, "my grandparents had the record."

Lance smiled and shouted "really?"

It took Kevin and Tina Rock 45 minutes to arrive at the country club. Five minutes after they did Tina was nervous and called Mark on his IPHONE.

Mark told Tina the power went out but came back on. After that he told her everything was fine.

When he hung up, he said "Damn it your mom worries too much."

Lance looked at him and said, "all moms do."

Mark then stated "I recall seeing a piano in your living room. I know how to play it."

Lance replied "really" and smiled.

A waiter walked the Rock couple to their table and they ordered champaign.

Mark Ludwig begins playing the piano and Lance Rock sings.

"Clock strikes twelve and moon drops burst
Out at you from their hiding place
Like acid and oil on a madman's face
His reason tends to fly away"

"Like lesser birds on the four winds
Like silver scrapes in May
And now the sand's become a crust
Most of you have gone away

Oh, come Susie, dear, let's take a walk
Just out there upon the beach
I know you'll soon be married
And you'll want to know where winds come from
Well it's never said at all
On the map that Carrie reads
Behind the clock back there you know
At the Four Winds Bar"

Lance and Mark yell "Hey" in unison four times in a row.

Then Lance sings as loud as he can.

"Four winds at the Four Winds Bar
Two doors locked and windows barred
One door to let to take you in
The other one just mirrors it."

(Country Club)

Kevin Decker Rock and Tina Lizzy Rock are now feeling more relaxed after they each had two glasses of champaign.

Kevin stated "I must drive so I'd better not drink anymore. What do you want to order for dinner?"

Tina slumped headfirst on the table.

Lance asks Mark "do you know Princess of the Dawn by Accept?"
Mark does the best he can on piano.

Lance begins singing.

"Beg for mercy - hail the queen
Princess of the Dawn
In the war of the dragons
Young blood ran its course
They fell to his blade
The knight Iron Horse
A forgotten priest
Disappearing in the haze
A chamber of vestal virgins
Twilight is her slave
The Wizard of Oz moved the pawns
Life for Satan - dust to dust
Princess of the Dawn"

(Country Club)

The Music Trio comes out on a stage.

The leader of the trio sang "Princess of the Dawn" and two dozen people in the club started headbanging.

(Rock Household)

All the sudden haunting piano music is heard and Lance sings "Joan Crawford has risen from the grave. Joan Crawford has risen from the grave."

In the end Lance and Mark wore themselves out and both fell asleep on the couch.

It was 11 PM when Kevin and Tina got home.

Both Mark and Lance woke up immediately after hearing the front door open.

Lance ran to his parents and shouted "mom, dad, you're both home."
Mark chimed in "we both fell asleep half an hour ago."

Tina quickly stated, "well half an hour ago that means Lance stayed up an hour and a half past his bedtime."

Kevin pointed out "no worries it's the weekend and here is your $20 for babysitting this wild rebel."

"Thank you, Mister Rock," Mark said with excitement and Tina told him "before you leave there's ice cream cake in the kitchen I want you to have a piece."

Lance shouted "ice cream cake" with excitement.

Lance watched his parents cut cake and Tina told him "go give Mark this slice."

Lance walks into the living room and presents a slice of cake to Mark and Mark asked in a high-pitched voice "oh are you giving me this slice of cake?"

Lance answered sarcastically "no I'm giving you a bomb so you can blow up your next-door neighbor's house."

Tina yelled "Lance Decker Rock I don't like comments about violence and I don't like it when you're a smart ass now go to bed."

Lance yelled "I haven't had my slice of cake yet."

Tina starts yelling and Lance yells back then Kevin says "I need more champaign" then he groans.

THE END
