Forever Grateful

Tonight, is a moment of surprises, and one of them is that you are no longer among us.
Remembering you as the best person I have ever met and had in my life.
I am torn into many pieces, but I am grateful that you took care of me my whole life.
It took me years to see you once again, but it made time worth it.
All those flights just to be able to hold you tight.
The first time after so many years, I know you couldn't see me, but you could hear me.
That smile, that warmth to which I was used to see and feel thorough out the years-
Age was rough on you, you couldn't stand, you couldn't see, you couldn't do anything on your own anymore.
I am grateful that you let me shave you, comb your hair, do your nails, spoil you every minute I could-
Your smile means everything to me. It made me want to stay longer by your side whenever I went to say good morning.
I saw you cry because you said no one cared for you, and I cried because I cared for you.
Everyone would say you were strict with them, but you allowed me to do funny things to you, I felt like a child every time.
Thank you for "dancing" with me, even though you could only move to the beat of the songs. Thank you for letting me feed you, because to me it was an honor to do this for you. Thank you for letting me hold your hands, because those hands held me tight when I was a child. Thank you for laughing at my jokes whenever I told you one. Thank you for talking to me over the phone whenever you could, because every minute counted. I thank you for all the most beautiful childhood memories I had because of you. Papa, thank you so much for existing because to me you were a great man, and you will always be in my heart. You will always be remembered and cherished because you were a father to me.
