April is the driest month
April 1st the weather man said,
“It’ll rain till Noah himself drowns dead”
And then he demurred, he was being a tool,
“Just kidding, just kidding. April Fool.”

April the 15th he hopped on at 9,
doing a rain dance, “Oh help us divine
Powers that dwell up there in the sky,
And send us some sprinkles
Before the plants die.”

April the 30th the weather man said,
Can it be that the weather exists in my head?
I only was kidding, you powers that be;
Yet for your revenge you’ll dry up the sea?
All our rainiest season, all our daisies are dry,
Too sad to still live, not one moist tear to cry?
Come what May, come what May, I’ll just hope,
And won’t say.
