She was one of ten...
Writhing among her siblings
a happy romping pup

When she was weaned
at six weeks they gave her to us
and she melted like chocolate into our family

an enthusiastic Puppy
surprisingly delicate and gentle
much of the time.

My oldest son attracted her...
her with his autism
her compassion is apparent even now at this age
lying quietly beside him...
everyone else's Fair Game.

She explores her kingdom, Eva does...
stuck on the stairs and needs rescue
nipping at our fingers and feet
but she has won our hearts.
