Sam Adams got up late
It was the dreaded
Laundry day
And he had nothing to wear.

Always one last task
To complete
Before the day ended.

And he could check off
The last of his endless
To do list.

But first he would
Have his morning
Bitter melon tea.

Then the phone rang
With the news
Another old friend
Had died.

Sam sighed
Commenting to
His wife’s ghost.

Who was always
Hanging about.

“well another one
Bit the dust
And will be joining you soon”

Wondering yet again
When he would join her
He got up and folded
The clean laundry.
