Jesus Is Alive!

Scripture: John 20: 1-18

Scripture Verse: “Jesus had to rise from the dead.” John 20:9b

God’s Attribute: Omnipotent. God has all power.

Main Truth: Jesus came back to life.

Story:

“God Is listening…when I pray. Our hands we fold, our heads we bow, so we can talk to God right now. God, thank You for giving us the Bible, Your true word. Thank You God for sending Jesus to die on a cross for us and bringing Him back to life. Let us be happy Jesus Is alive! In Jesus’s Name we pray. Amen.” Make sign for Amen.

Hold up Bible. “Does anyone know what book this is?” Wait for answer. This book is the B.I. B. L. E, the Bible. Can anyone say Bible?” Sing The B. I. B. L. E. “Touch the Bible.” Begin clapping. “The Bible is God’s true word. ‘The Bible is God’s holy book, let’s open it and see where God tells us of His love. God loves you, and He loves me.’”

Show picture of Mary. “Mary was sad.” Frown, draw tear tracks down face.

Show picture of Jesus. “Jesus had died. Mary and Jesus were friends. Mary missed Jesus very much.”

Mary went to see Jesus’s body. She wanted to make Jesus’s body smell sweet. Mary cared for Jesus.”

Look surprised, lean forward. Speak softly and emphasize each word. “Jesus body was not there. The place Jesus was was empty.”

”Mary didn’t know where Jesus was. Mary cried.” Trace tears down face.

Tug on ear. “Mary heard a voice.” Make binoculars, turn back to look.Ask kids to look behind them. “Mary turned around and looked. What did Mary see?”

Look really excited. Gasp, sit up. “Mary saw Jesus!! Jesus looked at her and said ‘Mary.’”

Jesus came back to life. Jesus came back to life! Yay Jesus. Yay JESUS!!”

Questions:
What is this book called? The Bible.
Who did Mary see? Mary saw Jesus.
What had Jesus done? Jesus came back to life.

Verse: John 20:9b
Verse: To God Is So Good. “Jesus had to rise from the dead. Jesus had to rise from the dead. John 20:9b. Jesus had to rise from the dead.”

Songs:

Get out eggs. “God wanted Jesus to come back to life. Jesus did come back to life!” God Is So Good. Also, God gives us Jesus, Jesus came back to life, God has all power, Glory Hallelujah.

Swap eggs for ribbons. “Mary saw Jesus. Jesus was alive! Mary was so happy to see Jesus.” Joy to the World.

Swap ribbons for bells. “Jesus came back to life. Why did Jesus come back to life? Because God has all power.” Praise Him, Praise Him.

Quiet time: Sing the Doxology. Talk about Jesus coming back to life and that God has all power. Sing The Bible is a Treasure Book.

Large muscle: Large blocks, ball and hoops.
