an abusive relationship
he tells her that he's sorry and he didn't mean to scream
he loves her so damn much, he says, it made him act extreme
he tells her that shes pretty and he's such a lucky guy
he pretends he doesn't see the bruise now forming on her eye
he tells her that he's sorry but she shouldn't make him mad
he tells her to stop crying, there's no reason to be sad
he takes off out the door to buy her a new treat
that's one more box of chocolates that she will never eat
she stares in the mirror and enters the zone
her face loses meaning, just skin across bone
the person she sees when she looks in her eyes
is only a stranger, a stranger that cries
she runs to the bedroom and falls on the bed
she has to make sense of the noise in her head
she kills all the thoughts until there's just one
shes made her decision and now she must run
she opens her suitcase and frantically packs
she has to be gone by the time he gets back
the voice in her head keeps telling her no
there's no one to run to and nowhere to o
she falls to her knees as she starts to cry
she knows she will stay but doesn't know why
"I love him," she whispers and falls on the floor
panic sets in as he walks in the door
he walks in the bedroom and looks at the mess
he hands her the candy and then a new dress
"you know you wont leave me," he says like a joke
"now stop being silly and hang up my coat"
he unpacks her bag and gives her a kiss
to remind her of things he knew she would miss
she then sees the flowers, today he bought three
three small reminders shell never be free.
