Inconsistency, when persistent, is likely intentional.
Sealed shards with secrets die,

As the army; swords down lie.

Key to kingdom sealed away,

In sacred battle; earn decay.

And as the king does seal the gate;

The citizen accepts his fate,

But not in earnest will.

The king looks to his council wise,

Who bears the tale of his demise.

The king accepts this broken fact,

And seeks an answer which he lacked.

Council, strong in ways past set;

Claims king must rise above regret,

But not with earnest tongue.

The king does throw aside their words,

As he gaze above the hordes;

He thinks of sound of sinking steel,

When blade of hate, his heart revealed.

King looks down at hole in chest,

And dreams of day when heart will rest,

But not in earnest hope.

The king to general sends command,

To fight with steel for broken land;

And army weak atop the gate,

Resigns to war, accepts their fate.

Their king has doomed their efforts fail,

War’s swords to break their shields and mail,

But not in earnest hate.

And though advance was doomed to fail,

Soldiers endured the fiery hail;

Of steel barbed tips of arrows falling,

And to only God were they help calling;

The king distraught at failed attempts,

His heart was filled with pained contempt;

With full and earnest guilt.

The king, his army in defeat,

Retreats to cell of sacred feat;

And as he opens golden door,

He calls his council, lusts for more;

Inside the chamber vows to seal,

His heart, mem’ry of broken deal;

So it may not be vain.

General at field of battle stands,

While comrades lie in broken bands;

But though the war was fought with steel,

Malice did neither army feel;

But still a legion’s men lay dead,

And filled with rage his blood runs red;

Although it was in vain.

The king within his chamber sealed,

Believes regret to be concealed;

But fiery rage and valor bright,

Allow gen’ral to pierce his blight;

And like the sword that pierced his chest,

This grievous wound brought him no rest;

Indeed, it was in vain.

This blow hurt king’s heart to the core,

He could tolerate no more;

Of future bleak, and past prevailing;

Deathly siege, and arrows hailing,

The king looked down at beating chest;

And came to the decision best,

But his choice was in vain.

The king in chamber; gilded, sealed;

Opened the wound which freshly healed,

With broken sword of gen’ral scorned,

He tore the seal which heart reformed.

The heart was placed into a seal,

And then the king’s wound ceased to heal,

Although it was in vain.

Why suffer threat of pain again?

Why take the risk of tears?

Why face the pow’r of guilt within,

Not hide from all his fears?

So thought the king in chamber sealed,

Locked ‘way from all the world;

Alas, it was in vain.

Heartless king ignored the past,

Removed his heart to feel;

In this state the king would last,

An empty husk of flesh ballast.

Ignoring all the world around,

Reliving siege which did astound.

The king was locked in past unwell,

When tried to gain, his soldiers fell.

The king lost faith in armies strong,

And conceded to a silence long;

For better it is to remain alone,

less risk being shamed before his own.

But still in isolation lies,

The king who still relives his lies.

Alas, this was in vain.

Soon withdrew the siege of fright,

And so ended the bloody night;

And kings and queens from world around,

Reached out to king with joyous sound.

Alas, it was in vain to king,

For he refused to hear,

For opening his heart to king

was same as deathly fear.

Alas, it was in vain to king,

For he heard not when bells did ring;

And cursed siege depart,

For he had lost his will to hear with culling of his heart.

And thus the shards of secrets fade,

As mem'ries soldiers fast degrade.

Kingdoms gates to close forever,

Key of light to return never.

Truth is blind, in heart; not mind,

And facts ne’er support another kind;

And facts to council would be clear,

Are warped to king while siege is near.

And facts of peace, not acts of war;

Are sealed behind the golden door,

By king in earnest pain.
