Where There Is Darkness, There I Write

Many voices within my mind,
They're always being judgmental.
Tormented voices, ungentle,
The peace I seek-time lost-rewind.


Frustration-separation-fear;
Cars are passing, staring with glee.
They see, they know-looking at me;
Closed curtains, dark rooms-disappear.


Reading made companions and friends;
Writing was a forgotten voice.
Unknown to me, I had a choice,
There is life in the work I penned.


The darkness may still follow me,
Creative light will set me free.
